Your own rental & booking system — a custom Booqable alternative

If your rental process outgrew spreadsheets and doesn't fit an off-the-shelf tool, I build the whole system from scratch — catalogue, availability, checkout, admin — and hand it over working, in three languages.

SHORT ANSWER

Who can build a custom equipment rental and booking system from scratch as a Booqable alternative?

A custom rental and booking system built from scratch starts at around €4,000 and takes from two weeks, scaling with catalogue size and logic. You own it outright — no per-item SaaS fees. It covers catalogue, availability calendar, checkout, roles and admin, like eRENTAL: 399 items, 24 categories, live at erental.ihor.work.

HOW IT WORKS

01

Discovery & architecture

We map your real rental process: items, availability rules, pricing, who does what. I design the data model and architecture around that, not a template.

02

Booking engine

Catalogue, availability calendar, date and price logic, checkout — the flows your customers actually use, built to handle overlaps, buffers and edge cases.

03

Admin & roles

A back office to run everything from inside: items, bookings, customers, roles and permissions — no developer needed in day-to-day work.

04

Languages, mobile, live

Native RU/EN/HU, a proper mobile experience, optional AI search and live currency, then deploy to production on your domain.

05

Handover & support

You get the working system, the code, and an optional support plan so it keeps running without surprises.

WHEN IT FITS

Best when your rental or booking process has custom rules — special availability, pricing, roles or integrations — and you want to own the system outright rather than rent a SaaS and pay per item forever.

WHEN SOMETHING ELSE IS THE HONEST CHOICE

If you rent a small, standard catalogue and Booqable, Rentle or a similar SaaS already covers your flow, use that — it's cheaper and instant. Custom only pays off when off-the-shelf genuinely can't fit your process or economics.

FAQ

How much does a custom rental booking system cost?

It starts at around €4,000 for a lean, focused MVP and scales with your catalogue size, the complexity of availability and pricing rules, and any integrations. A typical functional system with auth, roles, database, admin and deploy lands higher. I quote a fixed range once I understand your process — and there are no per-item SaaS fees, because you own it.

Is this a Booqable alternative? Why build instead of using it?

Yes. Booqable and similar SaaS are excellent when your rental fits their templates. You build custom when your process doesn't — unusual availability logic, custom pricing, specific roles, deep integrations, or when per-item monthly fees stop making sense at scale. The trade-off: custom costs more upfront, but you own it and pay no recurring per-item rent.

What's actually included in the system?

Catalogue with categories, an availability calendar and date engine, checkout, customer accounts, roles and permissions, and an admin panel to run everything. Native RU/EN/HU and a mobile version come standard. Optional extras: AI-powered search, recommendations, live currency rates, and payment integration. eRENTAL, the live reference, includes all of these.

Can you migrate my existing catalogue and data?

Yes. I import your items, categories, images and existing bookings into the new system, so you don't start empty. For eRENTAL I loaded a real 399-item catalogue across 24 categories. Migration scope depends on where your data lives now — a spreadsheet, another SaaS, or an old site — and I scope it during discovery.

Do I own the code, and who hosts it?

You own the code and the system outright. I deploy it to production on your domain and can host and monitor it under an optional support plan, or hand it fully to your team. There's no lock-in and no per-item SaaS fee — the recurring cost is only hosting and any support you choose.

How long does it take to build?

From about one month for a focused first version you can actually use, then we iterate. Full systems with many flows, integrations and AI features take longer. I start with a lean, working MVP rather than a year-long build, so you see real value early and shape the rest from live usage.
